Additionally, and I maybe wrong, I think this product misses the point: These village people still have to go individually and fetch water. The Hippo Roller may save some backache, but saves little time, and, when seen as a system to get water, is horribly inefficient.

I’m not suggesting that they build pumping stations and pipes – that kind of infrastructure is unrealistic. But couldn’t the efforts of designers and engineers have been directed at developing a simple an more efficient system of of water delivery, such as using large cart carrying 10-20 barrels of water? It could be operated with a fraction of the current woman power and free up other people to do more productive things. I could even see it developing into a sustainable business.
